Support the Next Generation of Filipinx American Physician Leaders!

Did you know that Filipinx Americans make up 20% of Asians in the United States, but they only make up 4% of Asian medical school applicants? In 2019, there were only 485 Filipinx applicants. In addition, compared to other Asian subgroups, Filipinx Americans experience higher rates of cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and mental illness.

This picture might seem bleak, but Dr. Antonio Moya and Dr. Angelico Razon sought to change this. In November 2019, they founded the Council of Young Filipinx Americans in Medicine (CYFAM). CYFAM's mission is to (1) provide a professional and social platform for the leadership development of young Filipinx American physicians and trainees, (2) promote the educational pipeline, and (3) partner with the Filipinx American community to eliminate health disparities.

In its first year, CYFAM hosted a national conference, held workshops, and provided COVID relief. CYFAM became a unifying force for aspiring and current Filipinx American physicians all over the country. And there's so much more we want to do to support our community. This is our Bagong Simula, our new beginning. We hope that you can help support us in our mission. Maraming salamat! Thank you very much!
